Founded in 1983 by Hermann Ebel, a German Shipping Tycone, Hansa is the common trading name for Hansa Treuhand Schiffsbeteiligungs Group's of companies that comprise Hansa Treuhand Finance, Hansa Treuhand gmbh, Hansa Heavy Lift, Hansa Shipping Line and Hansa Chartering. The five shipping companies operate a modern fleet of container ships with a combined capacity of more than 3 million TEU and maintain services across a broad array of trade lanes around the world. Since its establishment, Hansa Shipping Line has been a global brand which symbolizes innovative, reliable and sustainable marine transportation service. We continue with our mission to build efficient e-commerce platforms and to accelerate our fleet renewal program, introducing ever more eco-friendly container ships.

As a global container carrier, Hansa Shipping Line provides liner shipping services worldwide. As a strong promoter of the green earth, hansa Shipping Line keeps track of issues related to climate change and formulates environmental protection policies. Hansa Line aligns its core operating strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and combines the sustainable management concepts of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) to join hands with stakeholders towards common global goals. OUR HISTORY
HANSA SHIPPING LINE was founded in 1983 and is managed by proprietor Hermann Ebel and board members Axel Steffen, Klaus Gerken and Jan Bartels. The company supervises projects from the planning stage to the placing of orders with shipyards, ship management and chartering down to sale. HANSA SHIPPING LINE itself bears a large share of the investment risk. Before an issue is launched on the capital market, the project’s total financing is guaranteed by the company’s own financial contribution.
1983 – 1993
Since it was founded in 1983 in Hamburg, HANSA SHIPPING LINE has been one of the renowned Shipping Line in Germany. With 10 liner services, around 35,000 TEU of transport capacity and a container fleet of around 80,000 TEU.
1993 – 2003
HANSA SHIPPING LINE went to become one the leading providers of container services from Europe. The company is present in 75 locations across the world and has 16 own offices in the Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Singapore, China and Australia.
2003 – 2013
Within 3 decades, HANSA SHIPPING LINE would own and operate more than 80 multi-purpose vessels, bulk vessels and Tankers. In the late 2010's, HANSA SHIPPING LINE expansion took its vessels and presence to over 5 continents.
2013 – Now
HANSA SHIPPING LINE has become a wide-ranging conglomerate with activities in shipping, terminals, logistics, Vessel chartering, oil and gas, and other offshore activities spanning more than 100 destinations.
